Located at the heart of Armação de Pêra, which is between Carvoeiro and Albufeira, the Red Chalet was built during the turn of the 20th century and was inspired by the opulent luxury of the Belle Époque era emerging in the South of France.
Originally known as the Chalet dos Caldas e Vasconcelos, it remained as a family summer home for almost 80 years. Now listed as a historical building and a famous landmark on the Armação de Pêra coastline, the owners have lovingly renovated and retained as many of the original elements as possible: a unique wooden floor, antique chandeliers, and a spectacular staircase amongst some of the stunning features. The Moorish influences of the architecture, with geometric designs on the shutters and ceilings, are all elegant reminders of the region’s rich cultural history.
Despite its central location, the villa offers an evocative escape in a relatively private setting. The terrace is built into the seawall, giving the impression of a stay upon the ocean and showcasing spectacular sea views. This property does not have a swimming pool but there is an indulgent terrace and the beach is a few moments away.
The main house is particularly romantic with sculpted grape vines on the ceilings and picture perfect windows with the sea sparkling through. Elegant furnishings and decadent bathrooms continue the sense of luxury throughout. A charming staircase takes you to the first floor with two en-suite bedrooms and a living room with access to another terrace. A secret door leads to a further rooftop terrace that, many years ago, the owner built to hear the townsfolk sing songs dedicated to the local fishermen at the church of 'A Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes', which is located just behind the property.
Just in front of the main house is an annexe, accommodating four people, which is a contemporary reflection of the main residence. White-washed wooden floors and splashes of colour create a fresh, airy feel with a relaxed, effortless style, perfect for younger members of the groups looking for their own space.
With direct access to the beach and the historical town centre, this is the ideal choice for those wanting to experience the luxury of a private villa with restaurants, beach and shops just a short stroll away.
Guests are able to use the amenities of the Vila Vita Parc resort which has a swimming pool, restaurants, bars and a spa. Services must be pre-booked and resort conditions apply. We can arrange one complimentary transfer per day (round trip) per restaurant booking.

"Foodies will love this area as there are so many fabulous restaurants to choose from. There are good options for those who want to splash out and also those who prefer a cheap and cheerful meal. Our reservations staff are always happy to make suggestions and pass on any personal experience from our own visits as we all love eating out!"
"This is a developing area so some construction work is possible and the restaurants and beaches tend to be busy in the height of the summer. We suggest booking ahead if you can and especially if you are in a larger group. It is also a little hilly so some may prefer to walk to town but taxi back."
