Holiday villas in Ferragudo & Portimao
Traditionally a fishing port, Portimao Marina has now become home to super yachts, a variety of restaurants and quayside bars and it is a fabulous place to sit and people watch. There are some sensational beaches nearby and, as Portimao is the largest city in the western Algarve, this is the place to visit for excellent shopping as well as the historic buildings and specialist seafood restaurants. Nearby Penina has been synonymous with championship golf since the famous course was designed by three times British Open champion Henry Cotton in the 1960s and games can be more reasonably priced in this region compared to further east.
Ferragudo is smaller and more traditional than neighbouring Portimão and is located across the river estuary of the Rio Arade, close to Carvoeiro. You will, of course, find some of the best fish restaurants here and there are now some fantastic beach bars with live music and sundowner cocktails.
We have a number of villas in Portimao and in Ferragudo – get in touch today and let us help create your dream holiday.
Things we love…
“Ferragudo is renowned for amazing seafood restaurants and, as this region grows in popularity, there are now some atmospheric beach bars serving fish platters, barbecued food and cocktails. It’s the perfect place to watch the sunset. Boat trips and water sports can be booked at Portimao Marina – we highly recommend experiencing this area from the water as the coastline is very special.”
Things to be aware of…
“These resorts are further from Faro Airport so transfer by taxi is more expensive. We can arrange hire cars from the airport at competitive prices to your villa in Portimao or your villa in Ferragudo. Plus, we can supply local taxi company numbers for those nights out when no one wants to drive!”
