With few homes or hotels in the village itself, and bars and restaurants scattered around the outskirts and along the coastline, the area is full of cultural history. Those who find themselves here, discover that it’s the perfect place for meditation and reflection or simply to unwind, soaking in the scenery and taking photos. The sunset views here are some of the very best on the island, with a vantage point nestled on top of an immense cliff, looking over the sparkling Mediterranean with the island of Formentera in the distance.

Though it’s quite a trek, there are several tiny coves below the cliffs, including Platja des Cubells, Ses Boques and Cala Llentrisca, which is excellent for snorkelling. For the less energetic, there are some lovely areas to explore by car, but for walkers and hikers, this is an ideal location for those with a passion for scenic routes. The famous hike from Es Cubells culminates at Sa Talaia the highest summit of Ibiza, 1,558 feet above sea level!

Although Es Cubells is renowned for being a sleepy hamlet, it hosts two traditional festivals each year; The ‘Fiestas de Santa Teresa’ in October which celebrates their patron saint and ‘Fiestas del Carmen’ in the second half of July which honours the saint of mariners and protector of the seas. With live music, processions, decorated boats and plenty of delicious food offerings, this is the perfect opportunity to experience traditional Ibizan village life and culture.

Es Caná’s main promenade is fringed with pine trees and palms, numerous facilities and the softest of sands with a small harbour to one end. Well known for its water sports offerings and with Cala Nova Beach to the north and Cala Martina Beach on the southern side (both easily reached on foot) the Es Caná area is the perfect setting for an effortless day by the sea.

If you have a passion for good food then you can certainly take your pick from the wide range of restaurants here. From the fresh fish eateries along the coast and other high-end restaurants, offering upmarket cuisine with stunning views of the ocean. Venture out in the evening and you might be tempted by the great selection of venues offering live music and sumptuous cocktails. While some say that Es Caná has enough to entertain holidaymakers in the evenings, those who really want to party can also reach Ibiza Town easily via the nearby ferry link.

Planning a day trip from Es Caná couldn’t be easier. With the aforementioned ferry links, you can also take trips to Santa Eulalia and Formentera. For family days out with the kids, Acrobosc Ibiza Adventure Park is just ten minutes by car, on the way to Santa Eulalia, and has zip lines and rope courses with two more beaches just moments away. For keen shoppers, we recommend taking a visit to the infamous Punta Arabi Hippy Market held weekly on Wednesdays. It features unique handmade crafts, clothing, jewellery and occasionally live music too.

Villas that may appeal to you in this area are Pacifico & Villa Ariel with & Sky Blue just a few kilometres inland.

Set in a beautiful open bay with stunning views, San Antonio is home to some of Ibiza’s most famous nightclubs and high energy bars but also has an unforgettable mix of great restaurants, laid back beaches, shops and more. The sunset strip is where it all begins. World-renowned bars such as Café Mambo and Café del Mar aren’t just famous for their DJ sets; they offer some of the most mind-blowing sunset views you’ll ever see. When the sun touches the horizon San Antonio comes alive. Clubs like Eden and Es Paradis are pumping with energy, drawing in partygoers from around the globe. Daytimes are just as vibey. You can dance the day away with a drink in hand on the sandy beach at Ibiza Rocks or head on down to O Beach Ibiza where you’ll find DJs playing at poolside parties, aerial acrobatic performances and a stylish open air setup where the fun never stops.

For families or those wishing to enjoy some alternatives to the party scene, there are some truly idyllic beaches and bays in the surrounding areas and a whole host of eateries. You can explore the surrounding area by jeep safari, boat tours or simply hire a car for some extra freedom.

Cap Blanc Aquarium offers a truly unique experience in an underground cavern, which is both fun and educational for kids. Beaches like Cala Gracio and Cala Salada are serene and shallow, ideal for safe swimming and other beaches even offer accessibility features such as ramps and amphibious wheelchairs.

Hikers and nature lovers can enjoy the nearby Punta Galera offering picturesque trails and dramatic cliffs with outstanding sunsets while food enthusiasts should ultimately head to Ibiza’s first ever Michelin-starred restaurant Es Tragón.

Other local attractions include San Antonio Port where tourists can indulge in sunset cruises, half-day tours and if being ‘swish’ is your thing, you can even charter a private yacht!

For beach lovers, the view of the scattered islets offshore are unforgettable, and the water here is just perfect for swimming and snorkelling. Its golden sands and turquoise waters are encapsulated by secret rocky coves, making this one of the most magical areas on the island. Sunset Ashram, a bohemian-inspired restaurant and bar separates the two main beaches here and is one of the most fantastic venues to enjoy live music, Mediterranean cuisine, cocktails and picturesque sunsets that cast a myriad of colours across the glistening waters at sundown. Further along the cliffs, there are two more restaurants also with stunning views. The 800m stretch of sands are a big hit with visitors to the area but we recommend planning your visit in advance. It can get crowded during the busiest times of the year, so it’s a good idea to aim for either an early morning visit or a late afternoon sundowner. If driving, we recommend that you use the designated car park to avoid receiving a parking fine but there are also taxis located very close by.

The main historical feature of the village is a beautiful whitewashed 18th-century Church, located in the village square. Step inside to embrace the serenity and take a moment of reflection – a peaceful contrast to the island’s more fast-paced scene.

Although a quiet and traditional village, San Rafael is only a short walk away from two of Ibiza’s largest nightclubs, Amnesia and Privilege. Many find that the village offers a tranquil setting by day and comes alive at night. Staying in this area would tick many boxes for those who choose to have a bit of everything right on their doorstep.

A short drive away from this area we have Villa Jenna and Villa Bamboo.

Cafés and bars are dotted along the waterfront and despite its proximity to Ibiza Town, Figueretas has its own personality – a little less polished and a little more real – making it a favourite for those who want to experience the soul of Ibiza without straying too far away from the action.

Culturally, Figueretas blends modern tourism with hints of its fishing village past. While newer establishments have added a touch of luxury to the area, Figueretas retains pockets of old world charm in its traditional Spanish bars, small bakeries and quiet residential streets. The occasional pop-up market along the promenade also provides a chance to browse handmade goods, local artwork and souvenirs. The area features a vibrant social scene by night, without sacrificing its typical Spanish beach area authenticity.
