Things we love…
“It goes without saying that the nightlife here is world renowned but there is so much more to this beautiful island than the clubs and DJ’s it has become famous for. We highly recommend a boat trip to the pretty and peaceful Formontera beach. With turquoise waters and soft, white sand, it is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the whole of Spain.”
Things to be aware of…
“Parking can be tricky when visiting the main towns. It is often easier to find a car park or parking space just outside the town and wander in on foot. Restaurants can be pricey too but it is well worth exploring eateries and bars away from the main streets which can be less expensive and more authentic.”

There are a number of ways to get to Ibiza depending on your start point, price point, and preferences.
By plane
To get to Ibiza by plane, you can fly directly to Ibiza Airport, which is the island’s only airport. Many airlines offer direct flights to Ibiza from major cities across Europe, especially during the summer months.
By car
While you cannot drive directly to Ibiza, you can bring your car with you on a ferry from mainland Spain. To do this, drive to one of the key ports – Valencia, Barcelona, or Denia – and board a ferry that accommodates vehicles. Ferry journeys take 3 to 9 hours, depending on the route, and many services offer pre-bookable car spaces to ensure a smooth and hassle-free trip.
By bus
It is not possible to take a bus directly to Ibiza, as the island requires a ferry trip for the final leg of your journey. Major bus companies operate long-distance services to mainland ports like Valencia, Barcelona, and Denia, where you can transfer to a ferry. These ferries take between 3 and 9 hours and will drop you off at either Ibiza Town or San Antonio. Be sure to book tickets in advance, as they can sell out, and allow extra time between buses and ferries to account for any delays.
By train
Reaching Ibiza by train requires combining rail travel with a ferry since Ibiza is an island. Using Spain’s rail network, holidaymakers can easily reach one of the major port towns, and then board a ferry from Valencia, Barcelona, or Denia, arriving in Ibiza town or San Antonio.
By boat
Traveling to Ibiza by boat offers a scenic and enjoyable journey across the Mediterranean and is the only alternative to flying. Visitors can choose to depart from ports such as Valencia, Barcelona, or Denia, with travel times of approximately 9, 6, and 3 hours, respectively. There are various ferry options available, including faster (but typically more expensive) services. To ensure a smooth trip, book your tickets in advance, especially during the busy tourist season, and keep in mind that winter crossings can be choppier – so packing motion sickness remedies is a good idea!
